Health Insurance and Health Care

By Michael Orefice

In the United States millions of Americans are without health insurance.  Often when something happens or they get sick, they have to chose between getting better with the help of a doctor or hoping/praying that they can get better on their own.

The lack of health insurance can impact everyone… regardless of their education, status or time of life.  You can be between jobs, just out of college, or mostly commonly unable to afford it for yourself and your family.

I have been impacted by this… members of my family have been as well.  There has to be some sort of fix for this.  With the wealth in the United States, we should be able to provide for the basic needs of all Americans.  Recently Congress has passed a $700B rescue package to keep our economy going… provided billions more to other vitally important US companies.  They have also spent billions and billions on the war in Iraq, which I support, while people in the US have go without adequate health insurance and care.

I think this is wrong.  At a minimum everyone in the US should never go hungry, should have a roof over their head and have basic-preventative /catastrophic medical care.  We have the resources… we build bridges… to no where… we build sport centers, memorials and monuments.   We CAN afford to feed, house and care for all our people.

Our nation continues to work towards addressing health care and health insurance… every politician must… must work towards finding a solution.  In the interim there are resources for finding family health insurance.   It is critically important that our children get preventative care.

After all their contributions towards keeping America free and prosperous… out seniors need… supplement medicare insurance that is affordable so that they don’t have to make a choice between eating or taking their medicines.

We can do it… we can provide for the basic needs of everyone in the US.  Every politician, every American must get behind this…. we don’t have a choice this is someting we must do.
